Hazardous Waste Information Network, otherwise known as HWIN is a requirement for all companies that have waste removed from their premises.
The Ontario Ministry of the Environment requires that all generators, carriers and receivers register their activities of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. These activities are recorded on a Manifest (generally provided by your disposal company). Your legal requirements as a company who generates waste chemicals are increasing daily, and with that the complications involved in understanding exactly what you are supposed to do! Some companies have the luxury of affording an on-staff Waste Manager who maintains a continual knowledge of the changing demands of the MOE and the Land Disposal Requirements. As well as usage of the Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) to administer Generator Registrations, Form 2B completions, Submissions of Regulated Constituents, etc. If your organization does not have the resources to employ such personnel ECS can help!
Registering with HWAIN can be done by a company official or administrator and a help line is available. It can be difficult understanding what waste codes to use, what specific gravity is, what are the primary characteristics and more. Note: There is an annual cost payable directly to the Ministry.
Spend your time running your organization and let our knowledge and experience help you to understand your requirements and even manage your HWIN account on your behalf! ECS Cares can handle all of this for you. Our specialists will register your company, add your waste classes and provide you with all the required information. NOTE: All manifest copies must be kept on premises for 2 years.
