Your legal requirements as a company who generates waste chemicals are increasing daily, and with that the complications involved in understanding exactly what you are supposed to do!
Some companies have the luxury of affording an on-staff Waste Manager who maintains a continual knowledge of the changing demands of the MOE and the Land Disposal Requirements. As well as usage of the Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) to administer Generator Registrations, Form 2B completions, Submissions of Regulated Constituents, etc. If your organization does not have the resources to employ such personnel ECS can help!
Spend your time running your organization and let our knowledge and experience help you to understand your requirements and even manage your HWIN account on your behalf!
GENERATER RENEWAL $125
We will renew your generator on your behalf. ECS will list itself as an administrator on your account and ensure that your information is correctly submitted and in compliance with any and all changes to the Land Disposal Regulation and 347 (limited to the HWIN account).
WASTE CLASS ADDITION $25
Need to add a new waste class to your generator number? Many are unsure on how to do so because knowing the Ontario Codes can be a little tricky. Who knew that Paint & Ink are a 145, and if its a solvent based and a 145i. Leave this and your LDR responsibilities to us and complete the form below.
A Generator Number is a unique number identifying any business who generates waste chemicals issued by the Hazardous Waste Information Network (HWIN) in conjunction with the Ministry of the Environment. It is mandatory that all "Waste Generators" have a Generator Number with the exception of single practice Doctors and Dentists. Generators are managed using HWIN where you will be expected to maintain your account to ensure all wastes registered are active and offer complete information including regulated constituents, aqueous state and handing practices. Generators, like a license, are renewed annually every February. You will be expected to be accurate with your registration and due to the complexity of the Land Disposal Requirements and the understanding of your waste chemical constituents we invite you to relieve yourself from this obligation by allowing us to handle it on your behalf. This service IS EXCLUSIVE to our chemical disposal customers.
WHAT IS A WASTE CLASS?
A Waste class is a categorization created by the Ministry of the Environment in conjunction with the Hazardous Information Network (HWIN). The purpose of the categorization is to identify wastes not only by their type (class) but also the important sub-classifications (primary characterization) of each waste, for example Ink is not just ink, there are flammable inks, corrosive inks, and toxic inks. Fixer for example is identified as a 264 Waste Class and a primary characterization of T - leachate toxic = 264T. Beyond that you will need to identify the physical state, specific gravity, Hazardous Waste Number (i.e. D011). Understanding your waste chemicals in order to properly complete the process of adding a waste class to your generator can be complicated. Most information can be found by combining the resources of Regulation 247, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Handbook and the new Land Disposal Regulation (LDR) handbook. Additionally, you likely will be required to compete the Form 2B when adding your waste class. Or, if you are a current customer of ours you can simply complete $25 Add Waste Class and we can take care of it all on your behalf!
